MANILA – Four police officers from Pasay were relieved from their posts after they were caught sleeping while on duty at the Pasay City Police Station 10 in Merville.

The cops were identified as SPO1 Leoncio Munoz, PO3 Hayde Bulaklak, PO2 Romy dela Cruz, and PO2 Joshua Pili.

“Tuwing lalapit kami doon, lagi silang tulog, nagkaroon na ng pangamba ‘yung mga residente dito na pagkalagi ganoon ay papaano na ‘yung lugar namin,” said a witness, “Boy” (not his real name).

National Capital Region Police Office chief director Leonardo Espina expressed dismay over the erring cops.

“Kaya nga ginawa ko ng 8 oras eh. I’m only exacting 8 hours to do his duty. The rest of the 16 hours, I am every emphatic na you go home to your families and rest,” he said.

Southern Police District director Benito Estipona, meanwhile, said they will not tolerate the cops’ actions.

“Hindi tama ang ginagawa ng mga police na ‘yan at hindi natin ito-tolerate ‘yan,” he said. -- Reports from Noel Alamar, dzMM; Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News
