MANILA, Philippines – Another plane was hit by a bird strike upon landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Birds collided with the wing area of a Philippine Airlines (PAL) Airbus A320 plane as it arrived from Bacolod Monday night, PAL said in a press statement released Tuesday.
“Initial findings revealed bloodstains on the wing area of the Airbus A320 that landed Manila around 8:45 p.m.,” the airline said.
PAL said all 152 passengers were unharmed in the incident.
It added that the incident did not cause serious damage to the plane’s wing and two CFM jet engines after maintenance check.
The plane is now fully-operational.
The number of bird strike incidents at NAIA has increased over the past months.
Authorities are blaming a bird sanctuary that lies within the airport’s flight path for the incidents.
