MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Two Thai women were caught with illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 over the weekend.

The two suspects were identified as Khamsa Napaporn, 40; and Sukkasem Raphirat, 30.

First to be arrested was Napaporn, who arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 via Emirates Air flight EK332 at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said Napaporn was caught with approximately 6.9 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) concealed inside a compartment in her luggage.

Raphirat, meanwhile, was caught with 2.9 kilograms of shabu on Sunday.

NAIA 1 Customs collector Tess Roque said both suspected drug mules originated from Africa and arrived at the country via a connecting flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Authorities said the arrested Thai women were both under the Interpol watchlist, and are suspected to be working for the West African Drug Syndicate (WADS).
