MANILA, Philippines – A female passenger of a Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight from Guam returned an envelope containing US$5,000 cash which she found before disembarking from the plane.

Susan Torres of Project 4, Quezon City, was among the passengers of PAL PR flight 111 from Guam that arrived on Saturday morning at the Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Torres told dzMM that other passengers have disembarked from the plane and she was about to do the same when she noticed an envelope on the floor in front of her seat.

She initially thought the envelope only contained plane tickets. But when she opened it to check the contents, she was shocked to find dollars inside.

Torres immediately turned over the envelope to Customs personnel at the airport who counted the money. She found out the envelope contained US$5,000.

The money is now with the supervisor of PAL while authorities determine its rightful owner based on the flight’s manifest. -- Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
