MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine Army soldier was shot dead in Taguig City on Wednesday.

P03 Roger Abaco of Taguig police said the victim, identified as Sergeant Richard Pagatpatan, was found dead along an alley in Quiapo Dos in Maharlika Village.

Abaco said Pagatpatan’s face was almost unrecognizable after being shot in the right eye at close range.

Rowena Guiaman, a village peacemaker, said the victim might just be a visitor in the area since no resident admitted knowing him.

Retrieved from Pagatpatan were several identification cards and military documents.

Police authorities are still clueless on the identity of Pagatpatan’s killer. None of the residents, who witnessed the murder, were willing to give information to the police.

“Sa ngayon wala pa kaming maibibigay na lead tungkol dyan kasi pagresponde namin doon, pagtanong namin sa mga residente, wala pong nagsasalita na tao,” said Abaco.

Police authorities suspect Pagatpatan was a military asset sent to the area. – Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
