MANILA, Philippines – A former convict who had been in and out of prisons was gunned down in front of his family in Sampaloc, Manila.

Richard Blanco had just been released from prisons after being in jail since 2004 for robbery.

Prior to the incident, his wife Alicia said she was surprised to see him return to their Balic-Balic home in the morning. She said he only visits them twice a month and always at night.

However, during lunchtime, a group of men armed with long firearms arrived at their house and was searching for her husband. She said the men introduced themselves as policemen.

When they found him, she was shoved aside and the suspects shot her husband dead in front of her and their child.

But the chief of the Police Community Precinct in the area said no other policemen operate in their jurisdiction.
Several witnesses already provided authorities with the description of the suspects, as well as the license plate of the car used as their getaway vehicle. Report from Jorge Carino, ABS-CBN News
