MANILA, Philippines – Boxing champion Denver Cuello has recovered his championship belt after forgetting it inside a taxi last Monday.

Cuello said taxi driver Pepito Sumalinog returned his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver minimumweight title belt worth at least P2 million.

Cuello said he realized that he left the belt inside the taxi some 10 minutes after he alighted in Pasig.

Cuello explained that he brought the title belt, which he earned in a bout against Mexican Carlos Perez in October last year, because he guested in a television show.

He also denied that he was drunk when he forgot the belt.

The boxing champion also promised to reward the honest taxi driver with some cash for returning his belt. - Report from Alex Santos, ABS-CBN News
