MANILA, Philippines - Three people were killed in separate accidents involving passenger jeepneys in Manila and Quezon cities.
Police said 2 of the fatalities -- Jaypee Pilapil and Primitivo Tiedra -- were sitting on the sidewalk of T-56 Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City with 3 other people when a passenger jeepney rammed them around 9:20 p.m..
Pilapil died on the spot while Tiedra died at the Quirino Medical Center at 12:40 a.m. Thursday.
Three companions of the victims identified as Muslim Arsenio, Rommel Pilandi and Laila Pilapil were hurt during the incident.
Police have arrested the jeepney driver. Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and multiple injuries are being prepared against him.
Meanwhile in Quiapo district in Manila, Noriel Matining died after being dragged by a passenger jeepney.
Investigators said Matining was getting off the jeepney when its driver suddenly sped off. The victim fell and then dragged by the jeepney.
Witnesses were not able to spot the jeepney's plate numbers. -- Reports from Doland Castro and Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News
