MANILA, Philippines – Two political clans in Caloocan will lock horns in the 2013 elections, with fathers and sons running for key positions in one of Metro Manila's political hotspots.

Incumbent Caloocan City 1st District Rep. Oscar Malapitan, who is now on his third term, will run against the son of incumbent Caloocan Mayor Recom Echiverri, League of Barangays president RJ Echiverri.

The older Echiverri, also on his third term, will run against the older Malapitan's son, Caloocan Councilor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan.

The Malapitans, running under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), filed their certificates of candidacy earlier today with other candidates in their line-up.

Aside from Oscar Malapitan and RJ Echiverri, also vying for the mayoralty post is incumbent Caloocan Vice Mayor Edgar Erice. – report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
