MANILA – A fish kill hit Valenzuela City in the wake of the onslaught of Tropical Storm ''Mario''.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said about 1 ton of tilapia died in Barangay Malanday.
BFAR personnel have been sent to the area to get water samples from the affected fish farms.
Mario, which enhanced the southwest monsoon as it brushed across the northern tip of Luzon, triggered floods in Metro Manila and nearby provinces last Friday.
At least 11 people died due to the storm's onslaught, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). – reports from Johnson Manabat, dzMM; Atom Araullo, ABS-CBN News
