MANILA, Philippines – Three suspected robbers were killed in a police encounter in Quezon City on Wednesday evening.
Authorities said the armed suspects boarded a jeepney along Banawe Street and declared robbery upon reaching Jacinto Street.
The suspects were shot dead in a police encounter along Araneta Avenue at around 8 p.m. Two of the suspects died on the spot, while the other was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A passenger who fought back was injured after being stabbed by one of the robbers.
A policeman, identified as PO1 Wilfredo Baña, was also injured due to a bullet graze during the shootout.
Police recovered two guns, a knife, and the victims' valuables from the unidentified slain suspects. – report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
