Salbakuta member pistol-whipped by rival rapper
MANILA, Philippines - A rapper and member of hip-hop band Salbakuta was badly wounded in an incident involving a rival.
Rommel Tejada, alias Vendetta, sustained injuries to the head after being pistol-whipped by rapper D-Coy. The incident happened at an eatery in La Loma, Quezon City around 3 a.m. on Monday.
Tejada said he had just finished eating and was on his way out when he greeted D-Coy who was also eating in the same eatery. D-Coy then punched him on the side, which made him push the rival rapper.
D-Coy then allegedly pulled out a gun and used it to beat Tejada.
Tejada, who was rushed to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, said he and D-Coy have long been at odds over a song. He did not think this would deeply affect his rival.
Police are now looking for the rapper who faces several criminal charges for physical injuries, illegal possession of firearms, grave threat and usurpation of authority after he allegedly claimed to be a National Bureau of Investigation agent.
