MANILA, Philppines – Another former house helper is accusing the Marzan couple of abuse.
Evalyn (not her real name) was turned over by the provincial government of Catanduanes to the Public Attorney's Office, headed by Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta.
Evalyn said she started working for couple Analiza and Reynold Marzan when she was 14.
She said she suffered at the hands of the couple. Some of her punishments include slapping, pinching, and being forced to drink a large amount of water.
Evalyn worked at the Marzan household before Bonita Baran, another maid who lost her sight allegedly due to the couple's severe beating.
Acosta said Evalyn's testimony could boost their case against the couple.
The PAO is set to ask the Department of Justice to place Evalyn in the Witness Protection Program.
The Marzan couple is currently detained and are facing charges of illegal detention, attempted homicide and serious physical injuries.
They recently entered a not guilty plea for the detention charges, and filed a petition for bail before the court. – report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM
