MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics agents arrested two Chinese nationals posing as missionaries in a buy-bust operation in Mandaluyong City Saturday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

PDEA Director General Jose Gutierrez said Andy Ong alias Wang Rong Chu, 36; and Asy Lee, 42, were caught selling 100 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P600,000 to an undercover PDEA agent at a mall in Mandaluyong.

Gutierrez said the two Chinese nationals reportedly entered the country as missionaries of a religious group called Lian Ho San Tan Temple Inc.

The two were believed to be part of the Chua-Li drug group, which used to operate two shabu laboratories in the country.

PDEA said a total of 17 members of Chua-Li Drug Group have been arrested since 2009, including Ong and Lee.

Ong and Lee are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
