Urge landowner to give them financial, relocation assistance first
MANILA - Some 150 families camped along Manga Avenue in Sta. Mesa, Manila now fear a plan by the city government to dismantle their homes for safety reason.
The informal settlers were earlier evicted from a lot in the area that was recently claimed by its owner. The displaced families have been living on the street since August 28.
Residents say all they want is for the owner, a certain Angelynne Espino based on documents, to honor a court order directing her to provide financial assistance and a relocation package to the affected families.
Employees from Manila City Hall went to the area before lunch on Monday, but say there is no schedule for the clearing operation yet.
