MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – A passenger gave birth to a baby boy at a Light Rail Transit (LRT) station in Manila on Friday.

According to LRTA spokesperson Atty. Hernando Cabrera, the woman gave birth at the LRT’s Central Station platform at 1:05 p.m.

The mother was identified as 37-year-old Anita Paz, a resident of Sampaloc Site, Dos Parañaque City.

Cabrera said another passenger, former caregiver in Kuwait Amelita Clemenia, assisted Paz in delivering her child.

Cabrera said Paz and her companion, Iris Balaod, were headed to a hospital when Paz’s water bag broke.

Clemenia then helped Paz deliver the baby at the station platform.

The woman and her child were then brought to the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

On Twitter, Cabrera urged his followers to suggest names for the baby boy.

He said some of the suggestions were: Boy Central, Centraliano and Centurion.

Cabrera later posted: “‘Jeb’ po ang piniling pangalan ng baby boy.”
