NCRPO chief eyes inventory of raps vs cops
MANILA, Philippines – The new chief of the National Capital Region Police Office is taking a no-nonsense approach in ridding the 17,000-strong police force of bad eggs.
“I would like to tell my abusive personnel, enough is enough. Hindi ko kayo pwedeng patawarin kapag nang-api kayo ng tao. Hindi ko kayo tatantanan,” Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina told [email protected]
Espina said he has ordered an inventory of all major cases involving police personnel.
“I want an inventory of all policemen with major cases and their resolution at anong action taken dyan. Gusto ko makita sino yang mga yan lalo na yung paulit-ulit yung kaso,” he said.
The new Metro Manila police chief hopes to get the inventory on Wednesday after asking for it last Saturday, a day after he assumed the NCRPO post.
He also wants a speedy resolution to the cases involving men in uniform within his first 30 days in office.
The new NCRPO chief will visit the Quezon City Police District and the Manila Police District on Wednesday to rally his men to focus on proper police operations and practice discipline.
Espina is also planning to tap the help of barangays to complement their efforts in crime prevention.
Meanwhile, Espina said Senior Police Officer 4 Jose Dela Pena, the policeman involved in an alleged extortion attempt against his son, is facing several other administrative charges.
“He has to face several cases aside from that of my son. We do not need people like him,” he stressed.
The cop last reported to work on September 5.
Espina urged the public to immediately text their complaint against erring policemen.
“Kapag kayo ay na set-up ng kahit sino sa mga kasama ko, mag text kayo kagad sa 0999-9018181,” he said.
The number is being managed by his spokesman, he said.
“Kabilin-bilinan ko sa kanya tangapin mo lahat ng complaint magbigay ka ng initial feedback. Kapag major, handle it personally and then give me feedback and within a specified time that should be resolve. Immediately,” he said.
