BFP to probe arson angle in Tutuban fire
MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will look into the possibility the huge fire at the Tutuban mall in Divisoria, Manila was intentional.
BFP director general Santiago Laguna said the bureau’s investigation will begin tomorrow and will be completed in 45 days.
Stall owners at the mall believe the fire was not an accident. They alleged it was because of their refusal to renew their contract with the management.
They also alleged that firefighters were getting money from their cash registers.
Laguna said investigators will look into all these closely.
“Those are indications that the fire was intentional, but it is not yet a possibility. That will depend on the outcome of the investigation…Titingnan namin yan at kukunan namin sila ng pahayag at doon din sa mga material na present kung talagang sinadya,” Laguna said. -- ANC
