MANILA, Philippines – A 47-year-old man may face parricide charges for allegedly beating his 83-year-old mother to death inside their home in Baseco, Tondo, Manila.
The suspect was identified as Fidel Crisante alias “Boy Buwang,” who was arrested by police after receiving a tip from a neighbor.
The neighbor, Beatriz Suarez, said she heard the victim Crisanta crying and sounding like she was being hurt Monday night.
“Narinig ko kay Boy, sabi niya, ‘Inay, hindi ko sinasadya. Bakit mo ko iniwan?’” said Suarez.
On Tuesday morning, Suarez alerted authorities after she allegedly saw the suspect sweeping blood outside the house.
Police responded to the scene and found the victim’s dead body locked inside a room.
Investigation showed that the victim sustained wounds all over her face and body.
Police said this was not the first time the victim was hit by her son.
“Minsan sinaktan daw siya, sinuntok at tinulak,” said Sr. Insp. Roberto Mangune, precinct commander of Del Pan Police.
The suspect said they had an argument Monday night over an unpaid water bill, but denied that he hit his mother.
He claimed his mother may have starved to death. -- Report from Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
