MANILA, Philippines – Robbery is being eyed in the killing of a 92-year-old woman in Makati on Monday night.
The victim, identified as Victorina Delas Alas Gonzales, was found dead inside her house along Anahaw Street in Barangay Comembo at around 7 p.m.
Gonzales' body bore at least 20 stab wounds, mostly in the neck.
Gonzales' daughter, Purificacion, suspects the family knew the killer since there was no indication of forced entry in the house, and they did not hear their dogs bark when the incident occurred.
"Hindi naman actually suspect, pero madalas din kasi siyang pumupunta dito, alam niya ang ginagawa ng mother ko," Purificacion said.
"Alam noon na ang mother ko ay US pensioner, nagwithdraw siya kaninang umaga," she added.
Initial police investigation revealed that the victim lost at least US $400 pension money she withdrew earlier that day.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspect. – report from Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News
