MANILA - The suspects in the murder of race car driver Enzo Pastor underwent inquest proceedings at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday morning.
Businessman Domingo "Sandy" De Guzman III, the alleged mastermind in the killing, was charged with murder, frustrated murder, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The self-confessed gunman, PO2 Edgar Angel, was charged with murder and frustrated murder.
Frustrated murder was included in the charges since Pastor's assistant, Paolo Salazar, was wounded in the shooting incident that killed the race car driver last June 12.
Angel, who was arrested last Saturday during a buy-bust operation in Libis, Quezon City, confessed to the police that De Guzman paid him P100,000 to kill Pastor.
He said Pastor's wife, Dahlia, had an affair with De Guzman.
The businessman was subsequently arrested in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday. Seized from him were two pistols.
Dahlia is now considered by the police a primary suspect in the case.
While she remains at large, she was also charged on Thursday with parricide and frustrated murder. -- Reports from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News; Noel Alamar, dzMM
