MANILA – A delivery boy working for a fastfood restaurant died in a 6-vehicle smash-up along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City Thursday morning.

A 10-wheeler truck loaded with sand allegedly went out of control and plowed five other vehicles at the corner of Mindanao and Congressional Avenues at around 4:30 a.m.

McDonald's delivery boy Archie Gaerlan, who was on his way back to the fastfood restaurant, died on the spot after his motorcycle slid under the truck.

PO3 Andie Sotto said the truck, which was headed for Taguig, hit the motorcycle carrying Gaerlan first before crashing into the other vehicles.

Truck driver Jay Atencio claimed his brakes failed. He said his truck was just running between 25 and 30 kilometers per hour. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
