MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police Director General Nicanor Bartolome said Senior Inspector June Paolo Abrazado, the aide de camp of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, will tell his side of the story in due time.
He said Abrazado, who is now at a hospital in Camp Crame, is still suffering from trauma brought about by the plane crash that killed his boss.
Abrazado was the lone survivor in the incident last August 18. The two pilots, Captain Jessup Bahinting and Kshitiz Chand, also died.
“Siguro sa lalong madaling panahon ay maka-recover siya fully at makapagsalita na siya ng direkta sa media,” Bartolome said, noting it was the doctors themselves who asked that Abrazado recover first.
Some camps are blaming Abrazado for failing to save Robredo. The late Cabinet Secretary’s family, however, already told the public he was not at fault.
Abrazado’s father, Gil, said his son would readily die for his boss. Still, no one would ever be prepared for a plane crash, the older Abrazado said.
“Ang sabi niya pag siya'y umiiyak, mas marami pang gagawin si secretary, dapat ako ang namatay. 'Yun ang sabi niya lalo pag nanonood siya sa TV, nakikita niya si sec na masaya, naiiyak siya,” Gil said. – with a report from Mylce Mella, ABS-CBN Bicol
