MANILA - The National Capital Region Police Office will be on heightened alert ahead of Monday’s big rally against the pork system.

Senior Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, chief of the Philippine National Police Information Office, said the Task Force Manila Shield will take effect beginning 8 p.m. on Sunday night to make sure that criminals and terrorists will not take advantage of Monday's event.

He said 25% of the NCRPO personnel will be deployed for security and public service purposes.
