UV Express driver accused of raping passenger
MANILA - A UV Express driver is now in jail after allegedly raping his own passenger in Quezon City before dawn Wednesday.
"Jane", 27, is a sales lady in a mall in Fairview, Quezon City.
Jane said she boarded the UV Express driven by the suspect, Elviz Pedro, on her way home on Wednesday.
She said she sat on the front seat since there were no other passengers.
However, Pedro suddenly changed direction and brought "Jane" to a house in Barangay Payatas. It was there that Pedro allegedly raped her and even threatened to kill her.
Jane said Pedro fell asleep after the rape, giving her time to escape.
She added that she did not immediately report the incident to the police because she was scared of what her husband will say.
Pedro allegedly took her things, and asked her to claim it.
"Kahapon po tumawag siya uli kasi nakuha niya cellphone ko, 'yung passport ko nasa kanya," Jane said.
Pedro also threatened to kill Jane's husband if she refused to meet him.
Pedro has denied the allegations, saying that he and "Jane" have been in a relationship for two months.
He also claimed that they had an argument, which led to the rape allegation.
"May relasyon kami. Nasa cellphone ang ebidensya ko, kung hindi nawawala, kinuha ang cellphone ko, nandoon lahat ebidensya ko na magkakilala kami," he said.
