MANILA (1st UPDATE) – A grenade was hurled at a building in Manila on Monday morning, but it failed to explode, police said.

The grenade was hurled at the driveway of JL Building along Taft Avenue, near Pedro Gil Street.

Members of the Manila Police District – Explosives and Ordnance Division had to detonate the grenade themselves after it failed to explode. They said the grenade did not explode even if its safety pin was already removed.

No one was reported injured in the incident. Witnesses said men on board a car hurled the grenade.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the incident, but they noted that the grenade attack was the third to occur in the same building this month. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
