Yellow warning raised over Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – State weather bureau PAGASA issued a yellow warning signal over Metro Manila Friday night due to heavy rainfall.

PAGASA issued the warning at 11 p.m., as moderate to heavy (5-15mm/hr) rains with occasional heavy to intense (10-25mm/hr) rains are expected over CAMANAVA, Quezon City, Manila, Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong and Marikina within 2 hours.

Light to moderate (1-6mm/hr) rains are also expected in nearby areas within 2 hours.

PAGASA also said moderate to heavy rainfall (5-15mm/hr) was observed over CAMANAVA, QC, Manila, Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan while light to moderate rainfall (1-7mm/hr) over the rest of Metro Manila for the past 3 hours.

The weather bureau said the rains are caused by a series of thunderstorms embedded in the southwest monsoon.

It terminated the warning at 1:30a.m. Saturday but advised residents in the areas to continue monitoring the weather.
