MANILA (UPDATED) - A "technical problem" and an "inconvenience."
That's how the Department of Transportation and Communications - Metro Rail Transit 3 (DOTC-MRT 3) described on Twitter the derailment of one of its trains Friday that resulted in at least 34 injured people.
The tweet was sent even as photos and reports of the worst MRT accident in history were being posted online.
"Advisory: We are currently undergoing necessary intervention for the technical problem encountered," the DOTC-MRT 3's official Twitter account said.
"We apologize for the inconvenience.TY," it added.
The post drew flak.
The DOTC-MRT3 later posted another tweet, saying it "regrets the unfortunate incident."
"The management will extend all necessary assistance to those injured & inconvenienced. Thank you," it added.
