MANILA - Singer Selina Sevilla, the victim of a lousy butt augmentation operation, said on Thursday she was not afraid to face a libel suit from the "doctor" who carried out the operation.
Sevilla had earlier identified "Dr." Reynaldo Eugenio, as the person who carried out her failed butt augmentation procedure in 1998.
She sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in looking for Eugenio. She has not been embarrassed about showing her behind to prove her case, especially since the infections, allegedly caused by the silicone injections, have persisted.
Eugenio, meanwhile, has threatened to file a libel case against the singer.
Eugenio's counsel, Enrique de la Cruz, told ABS-CBN News it was Dr. Manuel Alinas who conducted the medical procedure, not his client.
“Hindi doctor si Mr. Eugenio, marami pong doctor ang clinic, at ang gumawa ay si Dr. Alinas na unfortunately, patay na po. Pero yung asawa ni Alinas, makakapag-attest na naging pasyente ng asawa niya si Selina,” said De la Cruz.
Libel case?
According to de la Cruz, Sevilla’s statements have prompted his client to consider filing a libel case against the singer.
“Hindi siya (Eugenio) makauwi sa bahay, may media, may NBI na nagsu-surveillance, napeperhuwisyo raw si Mr. Eugenio,” he said.
Sevilla welcomed Eugenio’s threat, saying that it will be an opportunity for her to prove her allegations.
“’Pag sinabi nilang they will see me in court, we will see him in court,” she said.
The singer insisted that it was Eugenio who carried out the augmentation procedure.
“Ikaw ba naman, siya ang sikat tapos sa iba ka pa pupunta? Tsaka pakilala niya duktor siya, lahat tawag sa kanya, doc... me calling card pa niya ako,” said Sevilla.
The “doctor” reportedly used silicone oil in Sevilla’s rear.
The procedure allegedly led to severe infection, causing a large swelling in Sevilla’s rear.
Sevilla is now scheduled to undergo a medical procedure to have the injury “fixed” through the help of cosmetic surgeon Manny Calayan. With reports from Maan Macapagal and Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN News
