MANILA, Philippines – The body of a six year old boy was recovered as floods slowly receded in Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City.

The boy was evacuating his flood-hit home along with his father, when the banca they were riding suddenly capsized.

The father survived, but his son’s body was only recovered the following day.

The two allegedly did not heed an earlier warning to evacuate their home. They only left the area when floods submerged most of the houses in their barangay.

Meanwhile, 3,370 families of the barangay are still temporarily staying in 22 evacuation centers.

However, Winnie Domingo, of the Quezon City Social Services Development Department said they will still have to verify the number to get the total figure of evacuees. Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
