Manila, Makati suspend gov’t work
MANILA, Philippines – The cities of Manila and Makati suspended work Wednesday as floods have yet to subside in some areas.
Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, in his official Twitter account, said work at the Manila City Hall is suspended.
Likewise, the local government of Makati suspended work in all government offices in the city, as advised by the local disaster council.
Malacañang earlier ordered the resumption of work in government and the private sector on Wednesday.
Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte told dzMM at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday this decision was reached after PAGASA downgraded the rainfall warning over Metro Manila from red to green.
However, work at the Commission on Audit in its offices in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal remains suspended.
Due to heavy rains and flooding, classes in Metro Manila and nearby areas also remain suspended.
