MANILA (UPDATE) – The Court of Appeals (CA) ordered the evacuation of all of its employees after it received a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax on Wednesday morning.

CA Justice Remedios Salazar Fernando said security guard Edwin Gonzales received a call from an anonymous woman at around 9 a.m. saying an explosion will occur inside CA's main building along Ma. Orosa St. in Ermita.

The call prompted the evacuation of all of CA's employees and justices.

Fernando said the court is taking the threat seriously, given the recent bombings in Mindanao.

"Kahit simpleng tawag lang, ayaw naming itaya ang buhay ng aming mga emplyado at justices pati ang mga properties ng CA," Fernando told dzMM.

"Wala po ngayong hearing kaya nagtataka kami kung ano kaya ang reason bakit kami binigyan ng ganitong mga threat," she added.

SPO3 Modesto Pagaran, Manila Police Distric bomb squad leader, said they did not find any bomb inside the CA compound.

As of 11 a.m., all CA employees were already back to work. - report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
