PCSO urged to leave flood-prone office
MANILA, Philippines - Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay wants the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to move offices again due to floods in the PICC area.
Magsaysay made the suggestion during the presentation of the office during the budget hearings of government's budget proposal for next year at the House of representatives.
Magsaysay pointed out that Roxas Boulevard, where the PICC is, gets flooded easily.
Magsaysay also noted that its current location requires a dress code, which may prevent or discourage the ordinary people from getting assistance from the PCSO.
Magsaysay wants the PCSO to move into its compound in San Marcelino Street, Manila.
PCSO chair Margie Juico said the agency is now studying designs for a possible new building.
The PCSO was previously housed at the Quezon institute Property.
It reported some 27.6 billion in retail receipts for 2011, even as it projects some 20.7 billion in retail receipts for 2012 and 34.29 billion next year.
