MANILA -- A section of Commonwealth Avenue, as well as several roads around the Batasan Complex have been sealed off since 3a.m. Monday, and will remain closed to traffic until 6 p.m.

The closures are part of preparations for the President Benigno Aquino III's State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Along Commonwealth Avenue, the northbound lane towards Fairview, starting from the U-turn slot near Jockfer Building until the U-turn slot of San Simon is closed to traffic.

Half of the southbound lane between those two U-turn slots will be used for counter-flow of vehicles heading to Fairview.

From 12 noon, the entire westbound lane of IBP Road from Litex until Sandiganbayan will be closed from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

Those coming from Filinvest 1, Sinagtala, San Mateo Road, and Filinvest 2 can turn right from Litex-Commonwealth.

Those coming from Rizal Province may pass through Soliven Street to Commonwealth heading to Fairview since the IBP-Litex road will be closed.

Meanwhile, for those who can avoid Commonwealth Avenue heading to Fairview altogether, motorists can pass through Congressional Avenue, turn left on Mindanao Avenue, right on Sauyo Road, left on Chestnut, right on Dahlia, then left on Regalado, heading toward Fairview Center Mall.

Those coming from Fairview may also use this route to head out of the area. - ANC
