PNP on heightened alert for INC centennial, SONA, Eid'l Fitr

MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on heightened security alert amid the series of high-profile events in the coming days from the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) centennial celebration on Sunday, the President's 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, and Eid'l Fitr on Tuesday.

Speaking to radio dzMM, PNP spokesperson Reuben Theodore Sindac said the entire police force went on alert mode on Saturday.

He said the police force will be on full alert in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region 4-A, and Region 3 beginning 5 p.m. today.

More than 3,000 cops will be deployed in the vicinity of Ciudad de Victoria and the whole of Bulacan for the INC's celebration of their 100th anniversary tomorrow.

The event is expected to be attended by more than a million INC members.

Meanwhile, an estimated 1,000 guests, including members of the diplomatic community, the Cabinet and other government offices, are expected to attend President Benigno Aquino III's SONA.
