MANILA, Philippines – Two foreigners were arrested for allegedly selling shabu worth P1.3 million in Binondo, Manila on Thursday, authorities said.

The suspects, identified as Malaysian Lee Yong Hoew and Hong Kong national Siu Ming Tat, were arrested through a buy-bust operation by the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force and Manila Police in a hotel in Binondo.

Police said they have been monitoring the suspects for the past 2 months.

They said that based on travel records, the suspects have been going to and from the Philippines to allegedly supply drugs to their Chinese clients in the country.

Half a kilo of shabu was discovered by police concealed in one of the suspects’ luggage.

Police said they were expecting to find 10 kilos of the illegal drug.

They are now investigating if the 2 suspects are part of a larger drug syndicate operating in Manila.

The 2 suspects refused to issue a statement on their arrest. -- Report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
