MANILA, Philippines – La Mesa dam in Quezon City has been placed on red alert Monday as it neared spilling level.
Latest data from PAGASA Hydro-Meteorology Division said water level at La Mesa dam was at 79.52 meters as of 6 a.m., or 0.63 meter short its spilling level of 80.15 meters.
Evacuation was recommended for residents who might be affected by the flooding brought by the spilled dam water.
Meanwhile, Binga dam in Benguet continues to release water as two of its gates were opened by one meter each.
As of 6 a.m., Binga dam’s water level was at 574.88 meters, or 0.12 meter short of its spilling level of 575 meters.
