Japanese on shooting spree over unpaid loans

MANILA, Philippines – A Japanese national went on a shooting spree in Marikina and San Mateo, Rizal Sunday night after several of his debtors failed to settle their loans.

The suspect, identified as Kunimitsu Matsuo, first fired shots at Salvador Panim inside the latter's house along Merrit Street in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina at around 8:30 p.m.

He then fired shots at Orlando Corpuz, Evangeline Silot and her 6-year-old grandchild.

The suspect then proceeded to a house in San Mateo, Rizal and shot couple Ronald and Nimfa Abuyog.

Panim was declared dead on arrival at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

Initial investigation said Matsuo went on a shooting rampage after the victims failed to settle their debts.

Sketchy police reports also said Matsuo was also looking for his wife, a certain Elena. – report from Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
