MANILA – Three of the 11 detainees who escaped from the Mandaluyong City Jail have been recaptured.
Police recaptured on Monday evening Nelson Yambao and Alber Llaneta, who were jailed for robbery and theft charges, respectively.
Yambao and Llaneta were among 11 men who escaped the detention facility before dawn on Monday after successfully sawing off the jail's iron bars.
The first detainee to be recaptured was Gabby Capistrano.
The alleged leader of the detainees, a certain Djordan Villadolid, remains at large. Villadolid, who was arrested for falsification of documents, allegedly led the escape.
Five jail guards have been relieved from their posts due to the incident. A manhunt operation has been launched to recapture the escaped detainees. – report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
