MANILA, Philippines – A yellow alert was raised over La Mesa dam after its water level reached 79.45 meters at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
The current water level is only 76 centimeters below its spilling level of 80.15 meters.
According to Manila Water head works controller Wilfredo Espeneda, they have already warned residents living near the dam to be ready for a possible evacuation if necessary.
Although tropical depression “Ferdie” already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Saturday, authorities are continuously monitoring the water level at the La Mesa dam due to non-stop rains brought by the southwest monsoon. – from a report by Dennis Datu, dzMM
