MANILA, Philippines – A janitor at a post office in Pasay City was arrested for stealing a package.

A footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera  showed Rolando Magudayao Jr. putting a package inside a garbage bag while cleaning inside the post office.

Magudayao then went to the bay area to check the contents of the package he stole.

He, however, did not know that the CCTV operator was already monitoring his movements.

Officials immediately conducted an inspection on Magudayao and found the opened package from Japan which contained nuts, chocolates and ¥22,000, or around P11,000.

Magudayao admitted the crime and claimed that other employees were also guilty of package pilferage.

In an interview on radio dzMM, Magudayao said he has at least three other cohorts inside the post office and one of them was a fellow janitor.

He said he started the illegal practice last April. – reports from Jerome Lantin, ABS-CBN News; and Johnson Manabat, dzMM
