MANILA, Philippines - The Luzon-wide blackout caused by tropical storm Basyang (international name Cocon) affected water supply in some areas in Cavite and Las Piñas on Wednesday.

According to water concessionaire Maynilad Water Inc., some areas in Cavite will experience irregular water supply due to the power outage.

The affected areas in Cavite are: Rosario, parts of Cavite City, Poblacion, Justine Ville, Molino and Malagasang.

In Las Piñas, the following areas will experience water disruptions: Brgys. CAA, upper portion of Aguilar, Emma Palico, Mother Earth, and St. Michael.

"Our deepwells in these areas are currently non-operational due to the power outage. We have water  tankers going around to provide additional water supply to affected residents," Maynilad said in a statement.

Maynilad supplies water to the West Zone of Metro Manila. As of 10 a.m. today, Maynilad had released 2,100 million liters of water on running generator sets.
