MANILA, Philippines – Police are investigating an alleged double murder-suicide case involving a family inside their home in Tondo, Manila.
They said the bodies of Nelson Cruzat, his wife Cecile and their 8-year-old son Christian were found dead inside the bedroom by Cruzat's mother-in-law Wednesday morning.
Police believes that Cruzat struck his son and wife to death with a hammer before shooting himself with a gun.
Initial investigation showed that the body of Cruzat's son was found lifeless on the bed after he was struck in the head with a hammer.
Cruzat's wife, meanwhile, was found with a blood-soaked blanket wrapped around her head.
Supt. Ernesto Tendero said they have yet to determine the motive behind the incident but noted that no valuables were missing.
Tendero also said there were no signs of forced entry.
Meanwhile, the village chairman Arthur Ignacio said Cruzat's mother-in-law told him that the family had been having financial problems.
Neighbors of the Cruzat family in Barangay 251, Zone 23 in Tondo expressed shock over the incident, saying the family seemed peaceful and happy. -- Report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
