MANILA - Preparations for the centennial celebration of the Iglesia ni Cristo are underway, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino.
Tolentino said around 3 million people are expected to attend the event in Bulacan on July 27.
He said as early as next week, they will set up two command centers for Task Force Sentenaryo -- one in Marilao and another in Bocaue.
Major General Felicito Virgilio "Chito" Trinidad Jr., the military's Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) commander, will be heading the operations in the command centers.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officer-in-charge Chief Superintendent Carlito Romero, meanwhile, will head all rescue teams.
Tolentino said all local government units (LGU) in Metro Manila have pledged to send a contingent of 50 traffic enforcers each to help control the expected influx of vehicles in the area.
He said the LGUs also pledged to send two ambulances, a fire truck, and three to five police cars to assist in rescue and security, and dump trucks to help clean up after the event.
Overall, the contingent that the MMDA organized will total to 2,000 personnel.
