MANILA - A taxi driver was beaten up and locked inside his vehicle's compartment by four robbers who posed as passengers in Barangay Paraiso, Quezon City on Wednesday.

According to Dominador Botol, three men and one woman boarded his taxi, pretending to be passengers.

The four, however, suddenly declared robbery and then beat him up.

The suspects also tied him up and locked him inside the taxi's compartment before fleeing.

Barangay watchman Larry Isleta said Botol's Spytech Trans taxi with plate number UVS 539 was found parked along East Riverside by a scavenger.

Isleta said the scavenger inspected the taxi after hearing noises from its compartment.

The man then found Botol inside and immediately alerted authorities.

Manhunt operations have been launched against the suspects. -- Report from Zhander Cayabyab, dzMM
