MANILA, Philippines - The camp of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim said an “ambush me” scenario is being planned by detractors and will later on be used against him.
In a statement, Lim’s chief of staff and media bureau director Ric de Guzman alleged political detractors are already plotting such a scenario and will then later point to the mayor as the suspect.
He claimed the information came from several sources, each one having approached them in separate occasions.
“Di na daw nila masikmura `yung dirty tricks dahil sobra na kaya itini-tip nila sa amin. Magkakaibang tao ito at hindi nagkakaalaman na nagsusumbong ang bawat isa sa amin,” de Guzman alleged.
He said the scenario will be a “sequel” to the “threats” allegedly issued earlier by Lim against “certain politicians.”
Vice Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and several city councilors filed last week a blotter report against Lim, who had said, “Parang wala silang kamatayan,” during a speech delivered before barangay officials.
Lim dismissed the charges as nothing but a “publicity stunt and a diversionary tactic aimed at taking away public attention from their failure…”
The issue started with the layoff of city hall workers and the supposed non-disbursement of salaries. It has spawned a word war between the two former allies.
De Guzman also revealed that an investigation is now ongoing to determine the source of a bogus press release sent to the media last week, entitled: “Mayor Lim to Isko Moreno, other accusers: Remember Dacer.”
He said Lim’s opponents are now getting desperate by resorting to dirty tricks.
