80 families lose homes in Manila fire
MANILA, Philippines – Eighty families lost their homes due to a fire at the Abad Santos and Solis Streets in Tondo, Manila on Saturday evening.
An estimated P2 million worth of property was damaged in the fire that razed 40 houses.
The fire was suspected to have started in the home of a certain Oliver Caliwanag, whose house was in the middle of the row of houses.
Manila Fire Superintendent Jaime Ramirez said they had trouble putting out the flames due to the location and the narrow streets that they had to pass through.
The fire was declared under control at 11:31 p.m. -- Report from Zandro Ochona, DZMM.
