Fires hits QC home, building

MANILA, Philippines – Fires hit an abandoned house and an office building in Quezon City on Friday, authorities said.

A home along Jacinto St., E. Rodriguez Ave., Barangay Dona Aurora in Galas was razed by fire at around 5:45 p.m.

Investigators said faulty electrical wiring caused the fire, which lasted for an hour.

They said the house has been abandoned since August 2011. An estimated P500,000 was lost in the fire.

Meanwhile, another fire hit the YDG Building along Katipunan at around 6:05 p.m.

The fire lasted for nearly 2 hours.

SFO1 Rosendo Cabillan said the fire started at the building’s 2nd floor, which was being rented by Chemetron Enterprises Inc.  owned by a certain Teresite Tegulo.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
