Woman robbed, hit on the head by taxi driver

MANILA - A Chinese woman who had just arrived in the Philippines was robbed and hit on the head by a taxi driver before dawn on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as 44-year-old Chen Jun, boarded a white Sir Anthony taxi at the airport and asked the driver to bring her to Cubao. She was supposed to go to Angeles, Pampanga to visit her boyfriend.

She was robbed by the driver of the taxi when they were along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City. Her money, cellphone, camera, and credit cards were taken by the suspect.

She was also hit on the head with a tire wrench by the suspect before he escaped and left his taxi with plate number UVZ 437.

Chen Jun, who sustained wounds on her head, was later found by personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). She was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities are coordinating with the operator of the taxi to get the identity of the driver. -- Report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
