MANILA, Philippines – An emergency leak repair at northbound Ayala-EDSA Tunnel may last until Monday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

MMDA said all lanes of the Ayala tunnel will be opened to traffic by 6 a.m. on Monday (June 11).

It was earlier announced that the repair, which started at 10 p.m. Friday (June 8), will only last until Saturday (June 9).

However, more work is needed by the Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) as the leak may cause structural damage to the tunnel.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes because only one northbound lane will be passable.

Motorists plying along EDSA northbound (before Ayala Tunnel) are advised to take EDSA Ayala Ibabaw, instead of using the tunnel.

Drivers traversing SLEX northbound (before Magallanes) are advised to take EDSA Ayala Ibabaw, C5 or Pres. Osmena Highway instead of using the tunnel.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” MWCI earlier said in a statement.
